Editorial policy

This policy sets out how material is commissioned, sourced, labelled and reviewed, and how editorial content is kept separate from commercial content.

Sourcing

Claims about policy decisions, economic data and market structure are sourced to primary material wherever it exists: central bank statements and minutes, statistical agency releases, exchange and regulator publications, and company filings. Where a claim rests on a secondary source, that source is named.

Where something cannot be verified, we say so in the text rather than implying certainty. 'Not confirmable' is a publishable outcome.

Labelling

Every item carries a content type:

  • News — time-sensitive reporting on an event that has occurred.
  • Market analysis — dated interpretation, with instrument, timestamp, time zone, horizon and status.
  • Historical analysis — archive interpretation that described conditions at the time of writing.
  • Guide and strategy explainer — evergreen educational material with stated assumptions.
  • Signal education — explanation of how signals are built and what they cannot do.
  • Review — an assessment produced under the review methodology.
  • Sponsored or press release — commercial material, labelled as such and excluded from editorial feeds.

Separation of editorial and commercial

Sponsored items, press releases and affiliate-driven material are never promoted into the news or analysis feeds on recency alone, are visually distinguished, and carry a disclosure on the item. Advertisers have no sight of, or influence over, editorial content before publication.

Forecasts, signals and outcomes

We do not publish price targets or trade recommendations as advice. Where an analysis discusses levels or scenarios, it states the conditions under which the reasoning would be wrong. Any statement about outcomes is bounded by the stated sample, period, pricing source and cost assumptions.

Review and updating

Evergreen material is reviewed periodically and carries a last-reviewed date. Where facts change, the item is updated and the change is logged rather than silently rewritten. Where an item is no longer accurate but has historical value, it is labelled historical and retained.
